Program Guidelines

1. Event Vision
முத்தமிழ் திருவிழா is the flagship cultural event of Charlotte Muthamizh Sangam, celebrating the richness of Tamil Literature (இயல்), Music (இசை), Dance (நடனம்), and Traditional Folk Arts. This event is designed as a community celebration, offering a welcoming platform for group performances that reflect Tamil heritage, creativity, and togetherness.
2. Eligibility to Participate
  • Participation is open only to active CMTS members.
  • All participants must have a valid CMTS membership at the time of final program confirmation.
  • Group performances only (solo performances are not included this year).
  • Open to participants of all age groups.
3. Performance Categories
  • Dance (நடனம்): Classical, Semi-Classical, Folk, Contemporary/Movie-based, Fusion rooted in Tamil themes
  • Music (இசை): Classical/Semi-Classical Vocal, Devotional, Movie-based, Folk Songs, Instrumental, Karaoke (Tamil only), Orchestra
  • Literature & Stage Arts (இயல் & அரங்கக் கலைகள்): Drama/Skit, Fancy Dress in Tamil themes, Poetry Recital, Tamil Speech
  • Tamilar Parambariya Kalaigal (தமிழர் பாரம்பரிய கலைகள்): Karagattam, Oyilattam, Mayilattam, Kummi/Kolattam, Puliyattam, Parai Attam, Villupattu, Therukoothu
4. Group Size & Performance Duration
  • Group performances only
  • Minimum group size: 4 participants
  • Maximum group size: 10 participants
  • Minimum performance duration: 3 minutes
  • Maximum performance duration: Up to 5 minutes per performance
  • Maximum of two programs per family; third allowed at Cultural Secretary's discretion
5. Registration Process
  • STEP 1: Program Intent Submission
  • STEP 2: Final Program Confirmation
6. Audio & Technical Guidelines
  • Audio files must be submitted in MP3 format
  • Only one final audio file per program will be used on the event day
  • Stage setup will be minimal to allow smooth transitions
7. Program Scheduling & Event Day Flow
  • Final program order decided by CMTS Cultural Team
  • Program sequence will be announced on the event day
  • Participants must arrive early and complete front-desk check-in
8. Code of Conduct
  • Respect volunteers, organizers, and fellow performers
  • Adhere strictly to time limits
  • Support smooth stage transitions
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging environment
  • Unacceptable behavior may result in program cancellation
9. General Notes
  • All programs reviewed for cultural relevance, balance, and time feasibility
  • CMTS reserves the right to make final scheduling decisions
  • Program changes on the event day will not be encouraged
  • Event emphasizes celebration over competition
